The Queensland Open Snooker Championship was won by Kurt Brown defeating Phil Haycock in the final frame 5 - 4. Full details maybe viewed by l/clicking on QOS Results. The inaugral perpetual 'Dr Clem Jones AO Memorial Trophy" was presented by Mrs Dell Townsend of the Clem Jones Group (pictured above). The raffle at the conclusion of the Queensland Open Snooker Championship was conducted with the first name out Michael Chung not present, Justin Man was next and present as was the next drawn, Forbes Davies. Both received $175.00
The Queensland Open Snooker Championship has been allocated a Perpetual Trophy thanks to the kind consideration of the Clem Jones Group. The late Dr Clem Jones AO was a leading light of Billiards & Snooker Internationally, Nationally and, in particular, Queensland where he was a Life Member and Patron for many years. Mrs. Dell Townsend, Patron of the Clem Jones Trust will be at Matchroom Snooker Centre on Sunday 25th July 2010 to present the 2010 Champion the inaugural Championship Trophy which will remain at the Champion’s Home Club. A replica has also been provided for by the Clem Jones Group for this and proceeding years. The FINAL is expected to conclude between 4 and 5:30 pm Sunday afternoon and the QB&SA invite all to be present for this occasion.
In an aim to please players an error of judgement has been made by me and after Management Consultation an instruction has been given to correct this. Four players are effected – Daniell Haenga as last year’s Champion will be given the No 1 seeded position moving Robbie Tibbs as the No 1 Queensland ranked player to the No 2 position. Chee Yap has been moved to the No 7 position and Kyle Lampkin to the No 8 position. The Queensland Open Snooker Championship will be conducted at Matchroom Snooker Centre and the Kedron Wavell Billiards & Snooker Club will assist with tables. If full field of 64 players is achieved, play will commence at both venues on Friday night 23rd and continue on Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th July 2010. The Clem Jones Group have provided a Perpetual Trophy called "Clem Jones Memorial Trophy" in honour of the service the late Dr. Clem Jones A.O. gave to Billiards & Snooker in Australia and in particular to Queensland.
